At the time of this post's publication, Gov. Greg Abbott has not announced scheduling a special election in retiring state Sen. Kirk Watson's Senate District 14; the governor has until some date in March (likely the 10th, 17th, or 27th) to call an SD 14 special election for the May 2 uniform election date. We will continue monitoring this election for updates.
Several of the March 3 primary elections in Travis County and across the state will move to a run-off election on Tuesday, May 26.
For the Democratic Party, races include the U.S. Senate; Congressional districts TX-10, TX-17, and TX-35; and the Texas Railroad Commission. Local Dem run-off elections will be held for County Court at Law No. 4; District Attorney; County Attorney; and the Precinct 3 seat on Commissioners Court.
For the GOP, Congressional districts TX-17 and TX-35 will move to run-offs, in addition to State Board of Education District 5 and Texas House of Representatives District 47 races.
Travis County voters may vote at any vote center – look for the "Vote Here/Aquí" sign. Find vote centers, voter registration instructions, and information on acceptable forms of voter ID, at the Travis County Clerk's Elections page.
