Austin American-Statesman

305 S. Congress, 512/445-3500
Started in 1871 as The Democratic Statesman, the innerworkings of this bustling daily remain a mystery to most, only offering tours to organizations - the Boy Scouts, for instance. But we all know they're the publisher of that li'l weekly arts supplement, XL, and its lovely lawn under the S. Congress bridge is one of the city's best bat-viewing venues.
