    Ride the Wave

This new play by Mattie Barber-Bockelman is about "three bros searching for an epic surf on the last day of summer." In the multimedia performance, set in a loosely imagined 2060s rich with vibes, grooves, and laughter, a group of young women riff on the surfer bro trope to examine how friendship, the pursuit of freedom, and growing up will be affected by climate catastrophe. Directed by Teresa Cruz for the Vortex.
    Jan. 12-28. Thu.-Sat., 8pm; Sun., 6pm. $15-37.
