The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar Sings its Way Back Into Austin’s Heart
The ACB announces one of its best music lineups yet
Sponsored By the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar December 5, 2022
One of Austin’s longest-running art and music festivals, the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, returns to the Palmer Events Center on December 17th and they’re bringing a slew of outstanding musicians to bring all the holiday cheer.
With over 40,000 attendees expected, the annual event attracts gift buyers, art lovers and music fans from all around the state. Patrons far and wide are invited to come home to the Armadillo and bring their families and friends.
What’s even more enticing about the bazaar this year is the outstanding music lineup they’ve organized. The Bazaar will kick off with a performance from Gary P. Nunn, and the rest of the 2022 lineup includes such fantastic musicians as Marcia Ball’s Pianorama, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ruthie Foster, Kelly Willis, Sir Woman, Carolyn Wonderland / Shelley King, Bill Kirchen / Albert and Gage, Del Castillo Trio, Gina Chavez, CJ Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band, Warren Hood / Emily Gimble, Tomar and the FCs, Suzanna Choffel, Sheridan Reed, Kelley Mickwee, Henri Herbert, Andrea Magee, Miggy & Tje, Rosie Flores and David Beck.
Each day, two bands will play on the main Armadillo stage, but what’s even more exciting about the bazaar this year is that, for the first time in Armadillo history, they’ve added a second stage to the event, aptly named “Stage Side,” for guests to enjoy an even more intimate music experience while shopping around the bazaar. A combination of up-and-coming musicians and solo acts from the frontmen and frontwomen of some of Austin’s favorite bands will be playing the Stage Side.
If you’re so excited for the bazaar that you want to get into the holiday spirit a bit early, you can! The team behind the event has compiled playlists of all the musicians that will be in attendance and you can listen to them right here.
With the end of a new year comes plenty of new and exciting things at this year’s Bazaar, which not only features the introduction of a second stage, but also boasts the most new artist booths ever in the history of its 47 seasons. Attending the Bazaar will give you a chance to meet each of these talented artists, which will be comprised of local Austin artists as well as award-winning national artists, in person. It essentially gives you the experience of visiting hundreds of art studios and galleries, except they’re all in one place for your convenience! It really is a year of firsts for the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar and you don’t want to miss it.
Tickets are now on sale, and with each ticket comes daily admission to the Bazaar, with the ability to see three bands each day (though purists may want to shell out the extra cash for the season pass, which essentially lets you see each band for $2.25 a pop). Not able to make it in person but need your official Armadillo merch? For the first time ever in the Bazaar’s history, no matter where you are, you will have the opportunity to purchase Armadillo festival merchandise online at the Armadillo Store. The store is open now so you can even get a head start by snatching your favorite items right now before they sell out.
So come see what has made the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar an iconic Austin tradition for nearly five decades! You won’t find anything like it anywhere in the world.
The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar will take place at the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78704) from Dec. 17 - 23 and will be open 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. daily.
