The Mutt-Cracker (Sweet!)
Circus Chickendog brings a talented crew of canines (Mouse, Moose, Coyote, Squirrel, and Skeeter) and circus artists to the Vortex for an incredible show, with rescue dogs doing their thing, Darren Peterson's masterful juggling and unicycling, acrobats Balyssa Ball and James Kent bending and flipping, and an original score that samples Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Suite. Scratch Chapel
"Are you an artist in need of a sanctuary to have new or experimental works heard? Are you yearning for a space to pray your prose so that the creative gods may show you your next step? Are you seeking shelter from spaces and organizations which promote product over process? Then, rejoice – Scratch Chapel is here!" It's an open mic situation every first Monday of the month, basically, where the Sahara Lounge "converts into a sanctuary (with a bar) for creatives," as hosted by Purdy Mischief. Performative freedom, passionate intensity, lights tripped fantastically, and if it's good enough for the likes of Todd Mein to stake a claim (and it is), then we say HELL YES!
