A chess-playing criminal mastermind, a steroid-ridden übermensch, and the Teutonic dwarf with a poisoned shoe are out to catch and kill a Bond. The bait? Pseudo-defector Bianchi, whom Bond rescues in Turkey and takes back to the West on the Orient Express. This film began the fine tradition of deviating from Ian Fleming's novels, which gave us the suave, sophisticated Bond over Fleming's monosyllabic misogynist.
