Good Work Austin

Good Work Austin supports local businesses and trains workers to provide free, nutritious meals to the Austin community. They help local businesses with raising wages to meet cost-of-living increases, provide benefits, and improve working conditions. Their community kitchen has distributed more than 2 million meals since May 2020 and kept more than $10 million dollars in the local economy.

Sustainable Food Center

The Sustainable Food Center connects families with local, small, and midsized farms to increase access to healthy, local food while providing resources and education to end food insecurity and help people maintain a healthy diet. They offer free courses in cooking, nutrition, and gardening to help overcome systemic barriers to nutritious food, and their weekly Sunday farmers' markets provide affordable, locally sourced food from small to midsized farms for the community.

The Training Kitchen

The Training Kitchen is a nonprofit 1.5-acre farm in the Manchaca area that provides fresh food to food banks as well as educational and training opportunities for the surrounding community. They pay and employ low-income residents to train them in useful farm and gardening skills while also growing and packing fresh ingredients into pantry items to supplement local food banks.

Caritas Community Kitchen

Caritas of Austin assists people transitioning out of homelessness through free, nutritious food programs staffed by volunteers. Their pantry also provides take-home groceries and toiletries to clients.

Naturally Austin

Naturally Austin is the Austin branch of the nonprofit Naturally Network and the only collaborative community for natural consumer packaged goods in Austin. They work to stimulate entrepreneurship while connecting Central Texas communities with natural, healthy packaged goods.

Tech entrepreneur and chef Joi Chevalier founded this comprehensive culinary incubator where Austin-area artisans, caterers, and cooks can develop their businesses while advancing food access, equity, and sustainability. They partner with local organizations like Mosaic Meals to provide fresh, healthy meals to food-insecure and nutritionally challenged communities.

Keep Austin Fed

Keep Austin Fed has been rescuing and redistributing surplus food to communities in need since 2004. Its volunteers rescue thousands of meals each month to reduce the amount of food that goes into landfills and feed people struggling with food insecurity.

Sunday Lunchbox

Sunday Lunchbox works to improve access to food for families experiencing food insecurity. Its Lunchbox Program delivers healthy, kid-friendly meals that are high in protein and good-for-you fats to families each Sunday. There are also gluten-free and dairy-free options sourced from local businesses.

Hungry Souls

1 out of 5 kids in Austin don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Hungry Souls partners with Central Texas schools to offer school break and weekend meals for students and their families so they can learn and grow without worrying about food.
